An arts festival featuring the works of young performers begins today in Scarborough and continues until Saturday.

The Suite Life for Arts StArt Youth presenting Art festival takes place at the Scarborough Village theatre and community centre at Markham and Kingston roads.

It features arts workshops, exhibit, performances included spoken work, music, dance, theatre, film and more. All festival activities are free for those ages 13-29.

Tuesday and Wednesday will see “Master Classes” workshops in acting, singing, dance and spoken word. Thursday and Friday will see Scarborough Village’s theatre open for participants to rehearse works which will be presented on stage Saturday. At the same time, visual artists will setting up their exhibits in the community’s centre’s gallery.

The performances on Saturday are scheduled to go from noon to 7 p.m. in the theatre. The visual arts displays in the gallery will also be open for the public to view.

Along with the gallery and theatre events, there will also be a drum circle, air brush art and face/body painting outside at the community centre.
